FREE COVID-19 SIGNS! Alert Signs For Quarantine, Self-Isolation, And High-Risk

I have created a set of free signs for you to download, print and use at home! This set of three signs include a warning that someone in the home is in the high-risk category for serious illness from COVID-19 infection (elderly, pregnant, immune-compromised, pre-existing conditions, etc), a warning that the household is in a COVID-19 quarantine, and a warning that the household is in a self-isolation period.

These are completely free, but please link to this page for others to get them instead of sending them directly to them. It really helps out my search engine ranking to get the visits and your friends and family might find other articles that they really enjoy reading!

Life is Too Short!

I just found out that a friend passed away this afternoon. We weren’t incredibly close… but he was incredibly close to someone I am incredibly close to, so that is plenty enough to shake me.

To Nomad or Not To Nomad?

I had an amazing experience in my younger years: I was a nomad. I was floating where ever the winds took me with all of my worldly possessions in a bag on my back. I didn’t quite do it “right” in those days… I hitchhiked, I jumped freight trains, I hiked and hiked and hiked. Luckily, I survived intact and with a much brighter view of the world around me. I learned what was truly important in life and in this world and it’s not what a lot of us think! It’s family, it’s those friends you meet along the way that you suddenly realize you view as if they were an actual sibling, parent or child of yours… even though they aren’t. It’s the earth itself in all her all her splendor. It’s those spaces far out in the wilds still untouched by human hands, wild and free! Continue reading To Nomad or Not To Nomad?

Natural Dog Spray

dogSprayHave you ever wished you could get your hands on a spray for your beloved pooch that smells amazing, is all natural, won’t irritate their skin and actually conditions their skin and coat to minimize flaky dander?

Well, today is your lucky day! I am going to share with you my all natural, awesomely amazing dog spray recipe!

As with any top quality product, a little goes a long way! I have only filled a tiny little 6ml spray bottle to use with my gigantic English Mastiff and it lasts 2-3 weeks before it needs to be refilled! Of course, always use your best judgement and if your pet is sensitive to or allergic to any of the ingredients, omit them or don’t use this spray on them!

The Carrier Oil that I used was Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil. A carrier oil is a neutral oil base that you add fragrant oils to. This way, you can dilute the fragrant oils safely. The fragrant oils blend and mix in the carrier oil, eliminating the need to shake the bottle before each application, like you would have to do if you used water instead. Also, coconut oil is GREAT for a shiny, healthy coat and keeps pup’s skin hydrated without being oily and generally icky. Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil is totally clear, liquid, non-staining and is fully absorbed by the skin and fur, so there’s no stains on furniture to worry about either. Best of all, you can get Fractionated Coconut Oil at the grocery store or through my Essential Oil business! Excited yet? I am!

Here’s the recipe:

Natural Dog Spray

  • 2 drops Clove Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Lemon Essential Oil
  • Fractionated Coconut Oil

Mix the ingredients together into a spray bottle. Spray lightly across the dog’s back and sides. Because lemon and clove can sometimes irritate eyes and genitals, avoid those areas entirely. After a light spray, brush the dog’s coat thoroughly to evenly distribute the spray and help it work its way down through fur and undercoats to the skin. It smells great and your dog will prance away with a bright, shiny coat and better feeling skin too!

Building the Machine: Common Core Education

Building the Machine: Common Core Education

What do you know about the Common Core Initiative? Do you really know what your kids are being taught in school? I’ll give you a hint: the new Common Core standards are NOTHING like it was when we were in school, folks! And, while Common Core is being taught in schools, my child will never attend a public school. I do not agree with it, with it’s corporate sponsorship and corporate interest in our CHILDREN, nor with it’s age inappropriate agendas. Please, people, watch this short movie and spread the word far and wide: FIGHT THE COMMON CORE! Just because we choose to home school our children, that does not mean they are not affected by Common Core. We still must test our kids and keep/submit their scores to the state in many states (mine included), and those tests are Common Core Aligned. Do you want your home schooled child to be able and eligible to go to college? Entrance exams are Common Core Aligned as well. Learn the facts and how to fight this initiative in your home!

Printable Alphabet Chart

Matoskah with his new chart
Matoskah with his new chart

I have been looking for a good printable alphabet chart for Matoskah and found several. After printing them and trying them out with him, I realized that there were items in each one that he just didn’t understand or relate to at all… YoYo for Y and he doesn’t enjoy yoyos, foX for X didn’t make sense to him because it doesn’t START with “x”, etc. Every chart had SOMETHING that just didn’t click with him and for him to learn, it MUST click with him. I already knew how much he loves animals, then we had a trip to the zoo the day after his 5th birthday and I got to see how much he enjoyed seeing all of the different animals, so I got the crazy idea to make our own alphabet chart with only real animals, one for each letter no matter how strange or off the wall the animal may seem. Yes, some were very hard to find, like animals that start with U and V (didn’t want to use a vulture, he thinks they are kinda ugly. LOL). So finally I got images of all of the animals, made a template for the chart and set it up. He LOVES it!

Please feel free to use this chart for your own personal needs, but no commercial uses. Download the images (there are 4 separate images), and select them all (Hold CTRL and single click on them to select all 4 at once), then right click on any of them and select “Print”. I used photo print settings with plain paper, selected “fit to page” in the options and set it to print two 5×7 per page at landscape setting. That gave me my printout that you see him holding in the picture. Then I taped the two pages together and there ya go, a nice all animal alphabet chart!
