I am proud to announce a new collection! Unveiling this week is my “This is all Native Land” collection.
The inspiration for this collection is rather obvious to those of us with indigenous roots, but others may not know… it isn’t generally taught in school. For those of you who are not indigenous, let me break the news: Native Americans lived here long before Columbus ever set sail for the New World. THIS IS ALL NATIVE LAND brings you the first installment in a series of collections that my Father-in-Law requested for me to design which brings forth the fact that all non-indigenous people in America are either immigrants (usually illegal… there was no immigration agency when the Pilgrims landed!) or the descendants of those immigrants. Columbus discovered nothing that Native Americans hadn’t already settled and lived on for thousands of years and my Father-in-Law (Lumbee/Apache!) wants some merch with that thrown out into the realm of the obvious. So, Daddy, here ya go!
Known for its use in many Asian cuisines, this citrus, smoky essential oil offers many additional benefits that extend beyond your favorite Asian meal. Add Lemongrass essential oil to your collection and you will experience healthy digestion, purifying benefits, and heightened awareness.

Dilute to use during a back massage to relish in the purifying and soothing benefits Lemongrass essential oil offers. With a pungent aroma,Lemongrass Oil is a favorite for massage, offers purifying benefits for the skin, and promotes a positive outlook. It can also support healthy digestion when used internally.* Whether applied topically, used aromatically, or taken internally, the uses and benefits ofLemongrass oil are widely diverse. Did you know that Lemongrass essential oil can help support healthy digestion when taken internally?* The chemical makeup of Lemongrass includes aldehydes, which are known for their ability to maintain healthy gastrointestinal function when ingested.* To reap these benefits, add a few drops of Lemongrass oil to your food or beverages to add flavor and provide dietary support. You can also place a few drops in a doTERRA Veggie Capsule to promote healthy digestive function.* You can even combine Lemongrass oil with Peppermint oil in a capsule to support healthy gastrointestinal function and maintain healthy digestion.*
One way to experience the benefits ofLemongrass essential oil is by diffusing the oil in your diffuser at home. Consider diffusing Lemongrass oil when you want to overpower feelings of nervousness or eliminate mental fatigue. Diffusing Lemongrass oil can also help promote a positive outlook and heighten your awareness. Another benefit of diffusing Lemongrass oil is the refreshing, herbaceous aroma of the oil. If you want to experience the aromatic benefits of Lemongrass essential oil but don’t have time to diffuse it, place one drop in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and inhale softly for up to 30 seconds or longer as desired.
The aldehydes in Lemongrass oil also make Lemongrass useful for naturally repelling insects. Diffusing Lemongrass oil or even using it topically can help keep bugs away. Diffuse Lemongrass oil inside or outside on your porch or patio to keep away mosquitos and bugs. If you are worried about keeping bugs off of your body, rub or spritz Lemongrass oil on your skin before you go outside.
Because Lemongrass is a soothing oil, it is commonly used for massage. The refreshing aroma combined with the oil’s soothing properties makes it a popular choice for massage therapy. It also holds purifying benefits for the skin, making it a desirable oil to use during massage sessions. If you use Lemongrass oil for massage, dilute it with a carrier oil like doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil. Apply the diluted oil to muscles and joints for a soothing sensation that makes for a tranquil massage.
Possibly one of the most common uses for Lemongrass is in culinary settings. For many years, Lemongrass has been a common ingredient to add flavor to Asian soups, curries, beef, fish, teas, and more. It is also widely used in baked goods or candies in the food industry because of its distinct flavor. If you want to utilize the powerful flavor of Lemongrass essential oil, consider adding a few drops to entrees or meat dishes. Looking for an essential oil recipe that uses Lemongrass oil? Try our Coconut Lemongrass Red Lentil Soup and enjoy the unique flavors of Lemongrass, ginger root, coconut milk, lentils, and more.
The soothing properties of Lemongrass oil also make it helpful for the body after physical activity. Consider applying Lemongrass essential oil topically where needed after a hard workout to utilize the soothing properties of the oil. You can also dilute Lemongrass and apply it after a long run for a refreshing feeling. No matter what kind of workout you choose, Lemongrass oil can help soothe the body after exertion during physical activity.
Lemongrass contains purifying and toning benefits for the skin and can be used in your skincare routine to help promote pure, toned skin. Consider adding a few drops of Lemongrass oil to your daily cleanser or moisturizer to help tone and purify the skin. Similar to Melaleuca, Lemongrass oil can also help promote the appearance of healthy fingernails and toenails. To experience these benefits of Lemongrass, try combining it with Melaleuca essential oil and apply the mixture to your fingernails and toenails to help them look and feel clean.
The evergreen lemongrass plant, also known as Cymbopogon flexuosus, is a tall, perennial plant native to India and other surrounding countries. Lemongrass has long, aromatic leaves that are cut and steam-distilled to produce Lemongrass essential oil. The lemongrass plant is often used to extract essential oil to be used in perfumes, detergents, soaps, etc. The oil can also be taken internally, which makes lemongrass quite popular in the food industry for baked goods, gums, and candies.
Chemistry of Lemongrass Oil
Main Chemical Components: Geranial, neral The chemical makeup of Lemongrass essential oil includes the constituents geranial and neral, which are aldehydes. Typically, aldehydes are known for their distinctly potent fragrances, which is evident in the case of Lemongrass oil. Aldehydes have many functions within essential oils, including the ability to cleanse surfaces. They can also lessen feelings of stress when diffused. However, essential oils with geranial and neral are particularly known for helping to maintain healthy gastrointestinal function when used internally.* Geranial and neral are also known as soothing aldehydes, which is why Lemongrass and Melissa oil are both soothing oils that share similarities in chemical structure.
Harvesting lemongrass is a labor-intensive process, but for families in Southern India, it has been a way of life for generations. doTERRA chose Southern India as a sourcing location because of the high levels of rainfall in the area. A greater amount of rainfall creates a higher citral content in the lemongrass, which makes it superior for essential oil use. During harvest time, farmers hike five miles up a steep mountain and work for roughly seven days to harvest a 100-acre plantation. Lemongrass is harvested by hand, using a sickle—which is part of what makes the harvesting process so physically demanding. Once the lemongrass is harvested and gathered, the farmers walk the five miles back down the mountain, each carrying a lemongrass bundle on top of their head. After the lemongrass is harvested, it goes through the process of steam distillation. Once distilled, the crude oil is passed on to a manufacturer who produces the Lemongrass oil. While the oil is with the manufacturer, it goes through stages of refining, filtration, and blending. The oil then undergoes a series of tests before it qualifies for export—the oil must be of the highest quality to be acceptable to distribute. Though the process of harvesting and producing Lemongrass oil requires hard labor and attention to detail, this process matches the high standards that doTERRA has for producing quality essential oils.
Oils that blend well with Lemongrass oil
Because Lemongrass oil includes subtle citrus notes; a pungent, smoky aroma; and a refreshing, herbaceous scent, it blends well for diffusion with a variety of oils that share similar qualities. Blend Lemongrass oil with the herbal scents of Basil, the fresh aroma of Spearmint, or the warm, spicy fragrance of Cardamom oil. Cautions

You may have noticed that I haven’t published a new design in a few weeks. Yeah… about that…
Sorry! You see, I’ve been crazy busy. I have a TON of ideas floating through my head. Usually, at what seems like the worst times possible. Isn’t that how it always seems to happen with us crazy artsy-types? Anyway, in the midst of my designing frenzy that usually accompanies these creative moments, I got a notification from my printing house. They are discontinuing dozens of products and literally THOUSANDS of color options from products they are keeping. Totally destroyed my creative moment.
You see, my storefront workflow looks kinda like this:
I get creative.
I spend hours, usually days, pouring over a design to make it perfect.
I send my design to the printing house. They hang on to it for me.
I add my design to select merchandise that the printing house keeps stocked, so they can quickly and easily print up an order.
You find something that you fall totally in love with!
So, you go ahead and buy it. You just HAVE to, after all! You love it! 🙂
The printing house prints my design on the merchandise you choose and sends it out to your doorstep for me.
You love your awesome new stuff and check out my other designs (I hope, at least!) 😉
But now I realized there’s a break in my work flow.. a critical break that I didn’t even see before. When I need to *change* a product in my storefront, it’s a bit of a pain in the backside. Okay, a total pain in the backside. I’ve been a programmer for almost as long as I could type (that’s a long time!) so I know my way around the technical side of running an e-commerce web site. I designed and set up this entire site on my own, after all. Even so, making these THOUSANDS of changes is very daunting. The problem is that I can’t do it in a big batch. I have to do it individually.
One. At. A. Time.
OMG serious! That’s literally months of work on a 40-hour workweek. The printing house gave me a week. ONE FRIGGING WEEK!
Totally not possible.
So, instead of trying to accomplish a total miracle, I decided to make a big change. A big, productive change. But the change requires a ton of work. I’m switching to a different printing house. So, my products from my previous printer will be disappearing from the site and replaced with equally awesome products from the new printer. I’m not sure you will even be able to notice a huge change from one printing house to the other from your end, as a customer, after I get the migration finished. Well, other than the fact that you will see a lot of new items available because the new printing house stocks a huge assortment of merchandise, whereas the previous one was pretty limited in their scope of products.
So, to summarize: some people have some crappy business practices and I am working hard to protect you (and me) from unscrupulous businesses by making sure I’m using a well-established printing house with a huge variety of merchandise available and an awesome reputation for top-notch printing and materials! Even though it is taking a long time to make the change, you will see a brand new design line available once it is complete! Yay! I already have the design finished and ready. I just need to finish the work behind the scenes to bring it to you. Stay tuned for the next update: I’ll let you know once it’s all done with a brand new announcement and perhaps a new sale to celebrate!
It’s kind of fringe, sure. But in a nutshell: yes. It’s possible! Now you want to know how this all works, right? Well, the answer is kind of simple and kind of complex. I’ll go simple for now.
Perhaps you’ve heard those people who say that everything in the universe has it’s own unique “vibration”? After being laughed at for decades now, science has actually proven these “crackpots” to be right! Bear with me… Light and sound travel in waves. Well, light is both a particle and a wave but.. yeah, it still has wave properties. Since light and sound travel in waves, our perception of the universe is based on the waveform. Without those waveforms of light and sound, we would essentially be blind and deaf to the world around us. Using that fact as a basis for studies, scientists have determined that not only does our perception of objects rely on visual and auditory waveforms, but the objects each have their own unique vibrational pattern that transforms into additional “background noise” waveforms. The source of these vibrational patterns was as elementary as it can get, yet shocking at the same time: atomic and molecular movement!
EVERYTHING is made of atoms and molecules, from the smallest dust particle to the largest star! But, what does this have with neural training? Just bear with me. I’m getting there.
Not only does everything have its own unique vibrational pattern, but our BRAINS also generate vibrational patterns! The vibrational patterns generated from within our brains are believed to be the product of electrical stimulation, discharge, and currents flowing in our brains and our bodies. Using FMRI scans, we have been able to locate exact spots in our brains that are triggered during different activities and emotional experiences. We have also been able to determine the vibrational frequency that is produced by those places in our brains during that activity or experience.
When I talk about “vibrational frequency”, think about actually hearing a vibration. Have you ever heard a Tibetian Singing Bowl? How about someone making a wine glass “sing” by running their fingertip along the lip of the glass? If you have heard those things, you have heard a vibrational frequency! A vibrational frequency is simply the audio tone that is produced by any given vibration.
But, most of the sounds that would be produced by our brain’s electrical signals are in the infrasound range. It’s pretty much inaudible to human ears, though some other animals are known to respond to infrasound. Elephants can produce and hear infrasound so effectively that we believe they use it to communicate over vast distances! Whales also produce and hear infrasound, which travels more effectively through water, and can use it to communicate across hundreds of miles! Animals are known to flee sites long before they are struck by earthquakes and tsunamis, we believe the animals hear the infrasound waves of the event which are released long before the actual vibrations are felt on the ground or the waves actually reach the shore. This usually allows them time to escape the catastrophe. But, just because we can’t actually hear it as an audible sound doesn’t mean that we don’t hear it! Our brains respond, even if our ears don’t tell us that there is a sound there!
I’m not going to take all day restating science but there’s plenty of people who ALSO recognize an earthquake is coming before it is felt shaking. Their warning usually appears as a queasy feeling and a rather unique type of headache, but it is usually only within seconds to minutes before the earthquake. Animals respond faster because they actually register the sound as being heard by their ears, but humans have much less of a response time because it takes the human body longer to develop enough of an annoyance with the infrasound tone to generate a physical response. Basically, our ears don’t register the sound as heard, but it still creates a reaction within the brain.
This all comes down to the point: neural training. And using tones that we don’t actually hear with our ears! We do have somewhat of a list of the frequencies produced within our brains when we feel certain things or when we do different activities. Sleeping generates a different tone than play. Focusing our thoughts on a certain task generates a different tone than when we do things “on autopilot”. Dreaming sleep (REM) generates tones unique from a deep, dreamless sleep. Active learning and passive learning also have their own, unique tones.
I have been experimenting. I use Adobe Audition on a regular basis anyway, so I already had a good software suite to experiment with. And Adobe Auditon has a utility where you can add tracks with specific hertz frequencies. Perfect! I downloaded some ambient audio sounds, songs, and compilations. I edited them to include very specific tone frequencies unique to what I wanted to use the audio track for.
My “sleep music” has the sound of a stream bubbling by, a campfire, light drumming in the distance and some ethereal tonal music mixed in. To this, I added specific hertz frequencies to stimulate healing, promote deep and restful sleep and alleviate anxiety.
My “study music” has ambient music backed by hertz frequencies for focusing on a task, passive and active learning and anxiety relief.
So far, results have been AMAZING! Not only for me, but my entire family has also noticed changes! We ALL sleep much better, feel better when we wake up and feel more refreshed. We use the “study music” when my son is doing his homeschool lessons and the difference is like night and day! Not only has it helped him stay focused and “in learning mode” during lessons, but more open and calm throughout the entire day as well!
I highly recommend neural training to anyone and everyone! Even if you aren’t having specific issues, there are passive tones that just help you to feel more relaxed, calm and more productive. And, trust me, it works! It sounds weird and strange, but then again… I’m kinda weird and strange so it makes perfect sense that I’d try it out. Even so, I would only recommend the technique to anyone else if it actually worked! So, go give it a try! What are you waiting for? Your brain will thank you 🙂
